ACCESS staff members bring a wide range of knowledge and skills to our program, another way we help ensure student success.

Mrs. Valerie Hooton holds a Master's degree in Special Education with specific focus on teaching students with significant disabilities and/or behaviors, and is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). Before coming to AHS, she taught the Life Skills program at Post Middle School for several years. Prior to that, she taught middle and high school Life Skills in other districts.

Ms. Kathy Freeman has many years of experience working in the mental health field, and is skilled in both American Sign Language and Signed Exact English. Before coming to AHS, she worked with students in the Life Skills program at Post Middle School for several years.

Mrs. Lanette Ziegler brings a deep understanding of both curriculum and behavior management. She has been part of the team for several years and is currently working on earning a teaching credential.

Mrs. Tammy Hake brings her warm personality, strong organizational skills and special interest in communication disorders. She also has a knack for working with students who have challenging behaviors, and has been a vital part of the AHS team for many years. Prior to working for the school district, she taught parenting skills to at-risk families.

Mrs. Sue Carlin joined our team in 2013. She came to us with no prior experience but has proven to be a fast learner and now we can't imagine being without her. Her calm manner and friendly but firm outlook allows students to feel both comfortable and supported.
