Spanish 1
My experience in speaking and learning Spanish began when I was a child. My mother was a Spanish teacher and she taught me bits and pieces along the way. As a freshman in high school, I started studying Spanish and I didn't stop. I received teaching certification in English and Spanish at WSU. I worked in an Alaskan salmon cannery in which I worked closely with the migrant workers and spoke primarily Spanish.I attended summer school in Spain at the Universidad de Alicante. I have walked across Spain in a pilgrimage which took a month.  Additionally, I taught English to Spanish Speakers at Skagit Valley Community college while getting my master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

I love language learning. I have also studied Russian and Norwegian and I have lived in Eastern Europe being the one person that doesn't speak the local language and needs to learn it quickly. I have learned the hard way what it is like to be the minority in a community.

I love watching students begin their language learning journey.
